Sacramento, California - State Assembly Speaker Toni G. Atkins announced the appointment of Assemblymember Eduardo Garcia (D- Coachella) to The California Economic Development Commission (CED). The Commission was established in 1971, as a statewide, bipartisan advisory commission chaired by Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom.

“I’m honored that Speaker Atkins, appointed me to this bipartisan commission. As a member, I want to work with the Lt. Governor and fellow commissioners to develop strategies to spur economic growth throughout the state. ” said Assemblyman Garcia.

The California Economic Development Commission is charged with the following:

“I welcome this bipartisan forum to create a dialogue and exchange ideas on California’s economic opportunities and future,” Garcia concluded.

The CED is comprised of 17 members: six commissioners are members of the State Legislature and ten members of the public are appointed by the Governor and represent various industries throughout the state.
