Sacramento, California - With wildfires burning across the state - exacerbated by severe drought conditions and extreme weather - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today declared a state of emergency in California to help mobilize additional firefighting and disaster response resources.

Los Angeles, California - Attorney General Kamala D. Harris today announced the arrest of five individuals suspected of being associated with the Sinaloa Cartel, for trafficking 55 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $2 million.

Twentynine Palms, California - A 73-year-old woman from Louisiana suffered a fatal heart attack while hiking with family on the 49 Palms Oasis trail in Joshua Tree National Park on Monday, July 27th.  Park staff, Joshua Tree National Park Search and Rescue, San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Dept. and members of the Twentynine Palms Fire Dept. responded and administered CPR, however, the subject was unresponsive.  

Sacramento, California - At the request of the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE) the California National Guard mobilized nine of its helicopters this morning to help battle Northern California wildfires. The request came last evening through the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES).
