Sacramento, California - Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Susan Fanelli, 55, of Orangevale, has been appointed chief deputy director of policy and programs at the California Department of Public Health, where she has been assistant director since 2015 and has served in several positions in the Emergency Preparedness Office from 2003 to 2015, including deputy director, acting deputy director and assistant deputy director. Fanelli served in several positions at the California Department of Health Services from 2002 to 2006, including staff services manager in the Program Support Section, associate governmental program analyst in the Office of Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act Compliance and staff services analyst. She was director of information services at the Institute for Fiduciary Education from 1996 to 2001. Fanelli was president, owner and instructor at Capitol Seminars and Consulting from 1993 to 1996, vice president and editor at Capitol Weekly from 1988 to 1993 and legislative staff manager at Legitech from 1986 to 1988. She earned a Master of Arts degree in political science and public service from the University of California, Davis. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $164,592. Fanelli is a Republican.

Kyle Krause, 52, of Mokelumne Hill, has been appointed assistant chief of the Housing Standards Section at the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Krause has been deputy building official at the El Dorado County Planning and Building Department since 2016. He served in several positions at the California Department of Housing and Community Development from 2010 to 2016, including codes and standards administrator and district representative. Krause held several positions with the Jackson Rancheria Band of Miwuk Indians from 2003 to 2009, including building inspector and project superintendent. He was a general contractor at Kyle Krause Construction from 1995 to 2004.  Krause is a member of the International Code Council. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $116,004. Krause is a Democrat.

Stephanie Tom, 46, of Sacramento, has been appointed deputy director of broadband and digital literacy at the California Department of Technology. Tom has held several positions at Oracle Corporation since 1999, including director of sales programs, director of executive engagement, director of customer references, senior education solution consultant and senior marketing manager. She was international business development manager at CyberCash Inc. from 1996 to 1998 and senior account executive at Aerotek from 1994 to 1996. This position does not require Senate confirmation the compensation is $126,900. Tom is a Democrat.

Robyn G. Hines, 49, of West Sacramento, has been appointed to the California Commission on the Status of Women and Girls. Hines has been senior director of state government affairs at Microsoft Corporation since 1999. She was manager of state government affairs at National Semiconductor from 1997 to 1999, director of public affairs at Citizens for Reliable and Safe Highways from 1996 to 1997 and regional director at the Coalition Against Bigger Trucks from 1995 to 1996. Hines is a member of California Women Lead. She earned a Master of Arts degree in public communications from American University. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Hines is a Democrat.

Olga V. Mack, 36, of Dublin, has been appointed to the California Law Revision Commission. Mack was general counsel at ClearSlide from 2015 to 2017. She was assistant general counsel at Zoosk Inc. from 2014 to 2015, associate counsel at Visa Inc. from 2011 to 2014 and general counsel at Pacific Art League from 2009 to 2011. Mack was an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati from 2006 to 2009. She is a founder of SunLaw, Women In-House Support Equality and Women Serve on Boards. Mack is a member of the Women’s Club of Silicon Valley and the Association of Corporate Counsel. She earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Berkeley School of Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Mack is a Democrat.
